Last updated on Dec 11, 2018. What is Tadora? Tadora (tadalafil) is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in your penis, which allows more blood to enter. This helps to achieve and maintain an erection. Tadora is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence). Tadora may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide. Important Information You should not take Tadora if you are allergic to tadalafil. Do not take Tadora if you are also using a nitrate drug for chest pain or heart problems. This includes nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, and isosorbide mononitrate. Nitrates are also found in some recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate or nitrite ("poppers"). Taking Tadora with a nitrate medicine can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure. Some medicines can cause unwanted or dangerous effects when used with Tadora. Tell your doctor about all your current medicines, especially riociguat (Adempas). To make sure Tadora is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had: heart disease or heart rhythm problems; a heart attack or stroke; angina (chest pain), high or low blood pressure; pulmonary hypertension (unless you are also taking tadalafil for this); a blood cell disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia; a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia; a stomach ulcer; retinitis pigmentosa (an inherited condition of the eye); a physical deformity of the penis (such as Peyronie's disease); or if you have been told you should not have sexual intercourse for health reasons. Tadora is not expected to harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known whether tadalafil passes into breast milk or if it could affect the nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding. Tadora is not approved for use by anyone younger than 18 years old. How should I take Tadora? Take Tadora exactly as your doctor prescribes. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Tadora can be taken with or without food. For erectile dysfunction, take Tadora just before sexual activity. For erectile dysfunction, take Tadora only when you need it, no more than once a day. For benign prostatic hyperplasia, take Tadora once daily at about the same time each day. Do not take Tadora more often than once daily. Allow 24 hours to pass between doses. Call your doctor if you have erectile dysfunction that is getting worse or if you have erectile dysfunction that does not go away after taking Tadora. Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. What happens if I miss a dose? If you miss a dose, you may take it when you remember but do not take more than one dose per day. What happens if I overdose? Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222. Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, chest pain, or a fast or irregular heartbeat. What should I avoid while taking Tadora? Avoid drinking alcohol. It can increase your risk of dizziness, headache, fast heartbeat, and low blood pressure. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with tadalafil and lead to unwanted side effects. Avoid the use of grapefruit products while taking Tadora. Avoid getting up too fast from a sitting or lying position, or you may feel dizzy. Get up slowly and steady yourself to prevent a fall.
