Avana
Avanafil is a
medication used to treat erectile dysfunction. It is in a class of drugs called
phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, which are used to treat conditions such as
erectile dysfunction (ED). Avanafil relaxes muscles and increases blood flow to particular areas of the body. This enables men to
achieve and maintain an erection when they are sexually aroused.
Avanafil is
not for use in women or children.

Some avanafil side effects may not need any
medical attention. As your body gets used to the medicine these side effects may go away. Your health care professional may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects. If any of the following side effects continue, are bothersome or if you have any questions about them, check with your health care professional:
- headache
- flushing
- stuffy or runny nose
- back pain
- myalgia
- skin rash
- light sensitivity
- nausea
- upset stomach
- vertigo
- vision changes
- diarrhea
- dizziness
- eye pain
- decreased sense of touch
- tingling of the arms and legs
- ringing in the ears
- sweating
Avanafil may cause other side effects.
Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while you are taking this medication.
What other drugs will affect avanafil?
Tell your doctor about all other
medications you use for erectile dysfunction.
Tell your doctor about all your
current medicines and any you start or stop using, especially:
- any other erectile dysfunction medicines;
- medicines to treat high blood pressure or a prostate disorder;
- an antibiotic--clarithromycin, erythromycin, or telithromycin;
- antifungal medicine--itraconazole or ketoconazole;
- heart or blood pressure medicine--amlodipine, diltiazem, verapamil;
- hepatitis C medications--boceprevir, telaprevir;
- HIV/AIDS medicine--atazanavir, indinavir, ritonavir, or saquinavir; or
- seizure medicine--carbamazepine, phenytoin, or rifampin.
