Cialis
Cialis (tadalafil) is a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor and it works by helping the blood flow into the penis to achieve and maintain an erection. Generic Cialis is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
What are the benefits of Cialis?
Cialis can help a man achieve and maintain an erection when he is sexually aroused. Cialis will not help a man if he does not have erectile dysfunction. Cialis may also be used to treat the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which is a condition that occurs when the prostate gland becomes enlarged. Cialis may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
What are the possible side effects of Cialis?
Cialis can cause serious side effects. Stop taking Cialis and get emergency medical help if you have:
- heart attack symptoms - chest pain or pressure, pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder, nausea, sweating;
- vision changes or sudden vision loss;
- ringing in your ears or sudden hearing loss;
- erection is painful or lasts longer than 4 hours (prolonged erection can damage the penis);
- seizure (convulsions);
- feeling light-headed, fainting; or
- penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
- an erection is painful or lasts longer than 4 hours (prolonged erection can damage the penis);
- vision changes or sudden vision loss;
- ringing in your ears or sudden hearing loss;
- chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;
- irregular heartbeat;
- swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet;
- shortness of breath;
- vision problems;
- feeling dizzy, fainting; or
- penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer.
Less serious Cialis side effects may include:
- back pain;
- muscle aches;
- stuffy nose;
- headache;
- upset stomach; or
- flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling).

What other drugs will affect Cialis?
Tell your doctor about all other medications you use for erectile dysfunction. Tell your doctor about all your current medicines and any you start or stop using, especially:
- drugs to treat high blood pressure or a prostate disorder;
- an antibiotic - clarithromycin, erythromycin, or rifampin;
- antifungal medicine - ketoconazole or itraconazole;
- or
- HIV/AIDS medicine - atazanavir, indinavir, ritonavir, or saquinavir.
